SBEL researchers Wei Hu, Milad Rakhsha, Lijing Yang, and Dan Negrut recently had a paper published in Computer Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering (CMAME) with help from collaborator Ken Kamrin of MIT. The work outlines a continuum approach to modeling granular material dynamics that has been implemented and made available in the open source multi-physics simulation engine Chrono. This methodology reduces the degree of freedom count and computational cost with applications in terramechanics, farming, astrophysics, pharma, etc., and will be especially useful to us in handling off-road mobility.
Congratulations to all authors!
