unit quaternions == euler parameters?

Are quaternions the same thing as euler parameters? The robotics and computer graphics community use quaternions for representation of rotations and orientations. The euler parameters seem to have the same properties like the p'*p - 1 = 0.

Re: unit quaternions == euler parameters?

Guru,

I believe so. Here is a part of the comments section for the ChQuaternion.h file in chrono. I hope this helps.

Mike

QUATERNION:

Class defining quaternion objects, that is four-dimensional
numbers, also known as Eulero's parameters.
Quaternions are very handy when used to represent rotations in 3d.
