Force acting on slider

For the condition when 5 < x3 <=5.5, is the force Fc equal to option a, option b, or something else?

a) -110,000[1 - sin(2pi(x3-5.25))]

b) -110,000[1 - sin(2pi)*(x3-5.25)]

Re: Force acting on slider

Dan,

I plotted both functions in matlab for 0 < x < 5.5.

Your option A. makes the correct plot on page 284, however it would plot on the Y axis units of (10^5) opposed to (10^-5)!
