Are you guys including the time it takes to do the cudaMalloc and the cudaFree? (I'm not. I'm trying to fix that, but the queue seems to be jammed with a bunch of copies of byoungkoo's testsub script).

Re: HW4 - Timing Results

No, Inclusive timing will not include malloc and free operations. It will start just before matrices are copied to device and end just after the result matrix is copied from the device.
Is the 0.05ms timing you posted, including malloc and free? It is 0.01 ms lower than Swetha and mine. :O

Re: HW4 - Timing Results

Elapsed time: 0.064480 ms
GPU Card : GeForce GTX 480

And I reckon change in dimBlock is not making a big difference on the time elapsed.

CUDA is cool if you know how to use it.

Re: HW4 - Timing Results

No, my results did not include malloc or free. I was going to add that but then got stuck in a queue. Now when I run it (still not including the allocation time) it's around .06 ms and above, so apparently my code got cold and slowed down :-(

Re: HW4 - Timing Results

We'll have to find out who "byoungkoo" is and bring him/her to justice. Or bring justice to him/her.

Re: HW4 - Timing Results

On Euler:
Inclusive time = 0.067520 ms
Device: GeForce GTX 480

I also tried it on the GPU for my little laptop:
Inclusive time = 0.099360 ms
Device: GeForce GTX 660M

Even though the 660M is a Kepler, it took 50% longer to run the code. Maybe it's the "M" part that's slowing things down.
