Results for 8 cores.

steps, 1000000, serialResult, 32.121089, ompResult, 32.121089, serialTime, 161.863ms, ompTime, 025.401ms

Results for 64 cores.

steps, 1000000, serialResult, 32.121089, ompResult, 32.121089, serialTime, 162.164ms, ompTime, 006.285ms

Results on Intel with 16 virtual cores:
1 thread, 148.24 ms
16 threads, 12.45 ms
11.9x speedup

Results on AMD with 64 cores:
1 thread, 148.33 ms
64 threads, 7.42 ms
20x speedup

Using AMD Opteron(TM) Processor 6274,

Number of threads 64
With OpenMP,Integral is: 32.1210406663592
Given Value 32.1210406882262
Error is 2.18670734852822e-08
Time required 3.3361 ms

Speedup: 48.1827 X

Using 16 threads (8 processors on one nodes) I was able to find the following:
Great speedup when implemented correctly!
The integral was calculated serially in 129.17 ms (average for 5 runs).
The integral was calculated in parallel in 12.21 ms (average for 5 runs).

On an Intel 8 core machine:

Timing, Sequential: 123.52 milliseconds
Timing, OpenMP [Intel]: 17.83 milliseconds

Note: The wall time for 8 through 16 threads was essentially the same, all were in the range from 17.88 to 17.83 ms, i.e. hyperthreading didn't help in this case.
